July 4th Parade in Country Estates
Staged by San Diego Country Estates Association and coordinated by Chris Riedler and Amy Holsapple, the morning parade attracted 40 entries.
Participants ranged from preschoolers in wagons and youngsters on bicycles to Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol volunteers on horses, firefighters in fire trucks, and the Ruland family from Sears Hometown Store maneuvering lawn mowers in choreographed fashion.
Parade announcers Robyn Ernst and Mindy Files kept everyone informed about each entry as entrants rode,
walked or cycled along the parade route.
Parade judges chose three entries for prizes. First place went to the Ramona Red Cup Riders, second place to Patriotic Pals, and third place to Star Spangled Synchronized lawn mowers.
July 4 festivities continue from 5 to about 9:30 p.m. on the fields behind Olive Peirce Middle School, 1521 Hanson Lane, where Ramona Rotary Club will stage its 20th annual July 4th Family Picnic & Fireworks. Fireworks will start at 9.
