San Vicente Women’s Golf hosts 33rd Pow Wow tournament
San Vicente Women’s Golf Association (SVWGA) hosted 33 member/guest teams at its 33rd Pow Wow tournament, chaired by Sue Bender and Shauna Porter.
The theme of the May 20-22 tournament was “It’s Just a Game.”
Tournament organizers congratulated winners Kris Jolly and Suzy Albin on their “sizzling play.” The 2012 Pow Wow champions carded a two-day overall low net score of 117.
Joyce Whitehead and Bev Fernandez garnered low net on Monday, May 21, to win the Lucy Hechter Award.

The women’s golf club thanked co-chairs Sue Bender and Shauna Porter and the many SVWGA members who formed the tournament committee, and gave special recognition to Joyce Whitehead and her crew for making the “It’s Just a Game” theme “come alive inside and out.”
SVWGA members also recognized the following for their assistance: San Vicente Golf Club Head Pro John Rathbun, Assistant Pro Fred Arcaina, Jack Anderson, Aaron Guevarra, John Lafata, Dennis Locke and all of the staff, Mario Trejo, Pat Shannan and the grounds crew, Joyce Whelehon, Master Chef Ben Peterson, and Debbie Warren and the restaurant staff. The Men’s Club members assisted with the tournament’s Domino Derby, carts, ball spotting and scoring.
The tournament organizers thanked the following individuals and merchants for their contributions and prizes for the event: Ace Hardware, Fred Arcaina, B Street Car Wash, Bank of Southern California, Colleen Barnum, Barona Valley Casino and Resort, Fred and Jeri Biddle, Jo Barefoot, Carmel Mt.
