At 91, still active in Kiwanis

Drina Hunt, who celebrated her 91st birthday on April 6, has been a member of the Kiwanis Club of Ramona for 11 years.

She was born in Hannah, N.D., in 1921. In 1907, her parents came to the United States from Scotland.

During World War II, she worked for the U.S. government in Washington, D.C. In 1955, she married Chuck Hunt. They moved to Ramona in the late ‘90s.

She said they both were avid rockhounds as well as volunteers at the Ramona Senior Center. Her late husband was also a member of the Ramona Kiwanis Club.

In 2010 she was recognized a Sustained Continuing Donor by the Kiwanis International Foundation.

Drina and Chuck are parents of three children. One daughter lives in San Diego and their other daughter and son live in Arizona

At 91, she recently made the comment, “The only difference between 90 and 91, it takes a little longer to get my engine started in the morning.”
