Library celebrates Children’s Day on Friday

Ramona Library welcomes the public to celebrate reading and multicultural literacy from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 27.

There will be a free book giveaway and lots of entertainment for children and teens. Captain Hook and the Good Ship Literacy will return to perform his Pirate Theatre and give books away from his treasure chest.

Other special guests will be Ramona Ballet Folklorico del Sol, Latino folk artist Maribel De Lucca, and San Diego County Migrant Education.

The event, The Children’s Day: El Dia de los Ninos, is sponsored by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, and is an enhancement of Children’s Day, which began in 1925. In 1996, nationally acclaimed children’s book author Pat Mora proposed linking the celebration of childhood and children with literacy.
