College prep testing
After a morning of taking the ACT Explore test, Olive Peirce Middle School eighth-graders relax and prepare to turn in their papers. It was the first time OPMS had all eighth-grade students take the test, which is the eighth- and ninth-grade equivalent of the ACT college entrance exam, said Olive Peirce AVID Coordinator JJ Sclar. The decision to give the test falls in line with Ramona Unified School District’s emphasis on college readiness, he said. Sentinel photo/Karen Brainard
