The Ramona Girls Under 10 All Star team worked their way to the New Year’s Kickoff finals in three tournaments, from December through January, reports Coach Lynne Knowd.

The first tournament in La Jolla, the girls shut out all teams in bracket play. They played exceptionally in semifinals in a game that went into 10 minute overtime play, said Knowd, but were eliminated after losing in penalty kicks.

Their second tournament in Scripps Ranch they again posted all wins in bracket play to proceed to the semifinals, but the rematch against Poway was a tough loss, said Knowd. At the Escondido New Year’s Kickoff, the girls kept their bracket streak with three shutout wins. Proceeding to semifinals, they kept the shutout streak with a 2-0 win but lost the final game to West Covina. “This was an amazing way to end our season,” said Knowd. “I am so proud of all of our girls.”
