The New Year’s Kickoff in Escondido was the third tournament for the Ramona All Stars Girls Under 8 team.

Members of the GU8 team, ages 6 and 7, played hard in their first tournament in La Jolla, their coaches report, making it to the semifinals.

“But third time proved to be the charm as the GU8 kicked it directly to the finals in Escondido,” said coaches Eric Seol, Mark Cercedes and Phil Christopherson. “Their defense and offense proved strong forces as they shut out all the teams in bracket play and netted 11 goals total in three games.”

The team’s all-star season ended with a second place finalist victory at the New Year’s Kickoff.
