We lost our 20 year old girl in 2008 on Scripps Poway Pkwy. She was driving too fast, and fell asleep at the wheel at the same time, 5am. Bless these kids hearts.
Please slow down guys. I know many of us are guilty of speeding, no reason to judge her for it. Tragic, and many prayers to the family.

Mrs. Chevalier,
My aunt and I, sadly and unfortunately, came upon this accident just minutes after it happened. Once I realized what I was looking at…and recognizing that the style and color of the hoody your daughter was wearing belonged to a young girl…I began to pray for you and your family. All I could think of was the phone call you’d be receiving that day and as a mother myself, my heart ached for you.

My hope is that your daughter, Amanda, will save many other young people’s life and will serve as a horribly sad example of what could happen on San Vicente Road if driving a little too fast when the road is wet. Something good comes from something bad, and that, perhaps, is the blessing you can find from this…your daughter will undoubtedly save another child’s life.

I’ve told many people about Amanda…and have also asked them to pray for her soul…and for you, her family. May God bless you and your family this year, and draw you into the comfort of his love as you grieve and heal.

I’m so very sorry for your loss…I will never forget your daughter, even though I never knew her.

@Mike I hired & trained Amanda for the past 2 months & she is very sharp! You can’t rely on Facebook Photo’s for anything! She doesn’t drink and if you look closely to that photo, you can SEE that she doesn’t have alcohol in her hands. Next time you decide to comment on sensitive issues like this you should do your homework. I drove that road today and that sharp left turn is very tricky even on a sunny day. @Dawg59 She doesn’t even have a cell phone! You need to READ exactly what her teacher stated! @Reporters Amanda always wore a seat belt. I was in several vehicles with her as the driver and the first thing she did was put on her seat belt! If she truly wasn’t wearing one then why was she still in her seat?? False Reporting!!! @Investigators Why is it that no one checked the Propane Truck drivers B.A.C. Level? I found a mini Smirnoff bottlle w/Redbull on tankers side of the accident!

Amen! very well said. We all should be thinking of BOTH family’s. I am sorry for you loss but Mr. Leroy has to live with this for the rest of his life what he saw that day. He is a wonderful man and he is not a fault it was just an accident. RIP Amanda god must need you. You will be miss. God bless!

Amanda’s mother, never listen to anyone who is writing mean comments on this article or any regarding this tragic accident. I dont know who you or your family is, but I do know the Leroy family, and they are wonderful people. This is just a tragic accident for both families involved. Accidents happen, thats why they call them accidents. Thinking of both families during this rough time. Do not let the mean comments get to you, people are evil and until their in your situation, they have no right to comment on this tragedy. Celebrate your daughters life!

Our family is very sad about our loss of our beautiful Amanda Jean Blessum! Please let our family grieve! This is a dangerous road, and Amanda was not the first victim to die on this road! If any of you travel this road, there are flowers, crosses, all up and down it! Our little girl had only had her license for one year! She was not experienced to drive in rain! Our prayers also go out to the other driver who tried to avoid her. Please, this was not someone who was texting, talking on her phone, which she had no cell phone in her vehicle. Some of us have years of driving experience. I as one, professional driver for fed ex 30 yrs. And a shuttle driver for the Courtyard by Marriott and have had a perfect driving record! Amanda had a terrible one time accident that took her life! Please let her rest in peace! Our family thanks everyone for being a part of our beautiful Amanda’s life! We love you Amanda Panda!

Also, as a wife of a propane driver, I dread the thought of this type of thing happening every day. With a town as small as ours we need to stick together and not be rude to our fellow Ramonians. The local drivers serve our community at all hours of every day and are all hit by this type of event.
I can understand the pain that this young girl’s family and friends are feeling but it does not give them the right to flip other drivers off as they pass the accident scene. They are doing their job, which can be very dangerous at times. Please remember that we are all effected by the actions of others. Again, my prayers are sent out to ALL involved.
