Firefighters stop spread of desert brush fire 

Cal Fire/San Diego County Fire Authority has stopped the spread of a nearly 15-acre brush fire off Montezuma Valley Road near the campgrounds in the Anza Borrego Desert State Park, Cal Fire reported early Thursday afternoon.

The fire was reported at 10:37 a.m. and the cause is under investigation.  At its peak, 150 firefighters were on scene, Cal Fire reported.

Firefighter will remain for several more hours mopping up remaining hot spots, Roxanne Provaznik with Cal Fire said about 1 p.m. on Thursday.
