Ramona Voices, ‘a local Facebook’

Ramona Voices, the new community forum serving the Ramona area, is now open for the public to use and enjoy.

“Voices is a place for local people,” said Marianne Welch, Ramona Voices’ media consultant. “It’s like a local Facebook.”

More than just a forum to chat on, Ramona Voices is a place to bring the community together. Users can tailor the site to show their community, accessing local news, businesses, events, job listings and more.

Ramona Voices is especially beneficial to small, local businesses, which can use the site to connect with their customers and consumers in a local way.

“It brings the community together,” said Welch. “It brings businesses and consumers closer together, gives them a voice.”

Users can write about a business, whether to express a complaint or give a rave review, and the business will receive their feedback directly.

“In the Yelp, Patches and Living Social sites, people get lost,” said Welch. “This site is us as a community, not just another option.”

Local users can also read local news, provided by the Ramona Sentinel, as well as post about local events.

“It’s a great place to come and find out about local events,” said Welch. “It’s not spread out.”

Registered users can also form groups, either public or private, to come together over a shared hobby, belief or life experience.

Want to share that great picture you took at Mount Woodson? Users can post photos related to the community, with photo contests to be held in the future.

Finally, Ramona Voices features the Buzz Board. Anyone who is registered can “buzz.” Whether you write about the great meal you just had at a local restaurant, talk about a community event, or just comment on how pretty the weather is, buzzing is the best way for the community to come together.

“We want to bring community back,” said Welch. “We have lost touch with our neighbors, our friends, people at school.”

Those who sign up before Sunday, Oct. 31, are entered into a drawing to win a dinner for two.

Businesses that claim their business before the same date are entered into a drawing to win an iPad.
