However, when slander and lies are the only means an individual has to promote their credibility it won't be long before they find themselves in court defending their actions, particularly when there is overwhelming testimony of everyone that has witnessed or experience those lies comes to surface. I don't think you can call eye witness testimony "gossip" unless you happen to be the one doing the lying and slandering and it's your best and only defense.
