Emergency crews are responding to a traffic accident that occurred on southbound state Route 67 at Air Mail Lane about 4:50 p.m. Friday.

The Barnett Elementary School library grew by 300 books after a donation on Sept. 28 from Miss California Princess 2011 and Barnett Elementary second-grader Alexevia Zetterberg of Ramona.
Zetterberg, accompanied by her mother, Regina Zetterberg and her grandmother, Mary Ann Sanchez, presented the books to the school Wednesday morning. Her brother, Roger, and his kindergarten class taught by Karen Johnson also came for her book presentation.

The group will meet the first Tuesday of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Although attending every group meeting is encouraged, participants may join in at any time.

Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific Chief Petty Officer Michael P. Cirillo of Ramona has been honored with the National Defense Industrial Association’s “Twice a Citizen” award for his leadership, self-sacrifice and commitment to serving America.
California State Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher presented Cirillo with the award during the National Defense Industrial Association San Diego Chapter’s 2011 Reserve and National Guard Awards ceremony in August.

Orrin Day, owner of Ramona Mainstage, is providing another venue to raise money for Liam Houck, a Ramona toddler in need of a kidney transplant.

“Operation Saddle Up partners with San Diego Balbao Naval Hosptial in facilitating the recovery process of our brave men and women injured in Iraq and Afghanistan,” said Judy Beckett, founder and executive director of Cornerstone Therapeutic Riding Center.
