Backpacks, school supplies given away at back-to-school party

School Supply Drive and Back to School Barbecue outside Main Street Roca church, 825 Main St., on Friday evening.

Free festivities included The Talking Police Car, Ronald McDonald and his show, party jump for the younger children, games, live music, face painting and a barbecue dinner.

Stacey Rudge, who with her husband Scott coordinated the event, said 530 backpacks, 75 binders and 100 matching lunch boxes to go with some of the backpacks were donated for the back-to-school giveaway. School supplies were in the backpacks and binders. Donations came from area businesses, individuals and organizations.

    I AM A SINGLE DISABLED PARENT AND I JUST WANTED TO ASK FOR HELP WITH GETTING MY FOUR CHILDREN SOME SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND BACKPACKS. IM A SINGLE MOM MAKING A WAY DAILY TO PROVIDE OFF A ONCE A MONTH INCOME AND ITS REALLY HARD WHEN MY INCOME GOES TOWARD OUR HOME, UTILITIES AND FOOD. THERE IS NOTHING LEFT TO GET OTHER THINGS NEEDED FOR THE HOUSE OR THE CHILDREN. I DON’T EVEN HAVE MONEY TO GET THE MANDATORY UNIFORMS NEEDED FOR SCHOOL. IF U NO ANY ORGANIZATION THAT WILL INDEED HELP MY CHILDREN AND I WE WOULD REALLY BE GREATFUL. IM A PARENT THAT JUST WANT MY CHILDREN TO HAVE THE THINGS THEY NEED TO SUCCEED IN THEIR EDUCATION. THANKS IN ADVANCE A SINGLE PARENT IN NEED OF HELP TO HELP HER CHILDREN.
