Purcell receives scholarship, accepts job at credit union

Deborah “Debi” Purcell of Ramona has accepted membership for the second consecutive term in Golden Key International Honour Society and was honored during a recent induction ceremony at Ashford University.

A full-time non-traditional student at Ashford University, Purcell in early June received a $2,500 scholarship from the Avon Foundation to continue her education. In addition, she recently accepted a full-time position as real estate transaction coordinator for Mission Federal Credit Union.

Purcell, 44, is active in the Ramona community through her volunteer efforts with the Kiwanis Club of Ramona, as den leader for her son’s Cub Scout Bear Den, as an Art Docent with Mt. Woodson Elementary School and as a lector at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

As an independent Avon representative, she has consistently earned President’s Club achievement, allowing her to apply to the Avon Foundation for the educational scholarship. October 2012 is her anticipated graduation date, and she expects to receive her diploma in person at Ashford University’s campus in Clinton, Iowa.

She and her husband Bob have an 8-year-old son, Matthew.
