Rants & Raves
RAVE: There will be another Miracle on 603 Main Street this Friday, when Jennifer Jenkin opens up a wine tasting shop which will feature Pamo Valley wines and will debut her own wine, JJJ, so be sure and check it out. It’s been many years since we had a wine tasting room on Main Street – best of luck! And speaking of wine tasting in Ramona, make a weekend of it and also visit, the Eagles Nest Winery, Edwards Vineyards & Cellars, Lenora Winery, Mahogany Mountain Winery, Pyramind Vineyards & Winery, Salerno Winery, Schwaesdall Winery and Woof’n Rose Winery (app’t only). No need to drive off the hill.
RANT/RAVE: Great idea to open the trailhead for Cedar Creek Falls, bad idea to not plan for a parking area so the streets in the neighborhood are not clogged with cars. And after over two years because construction had to be halted to relocate the Stephens kangaroo rat to a new area, there is a trail through the grasslands.
RAVE: If you love fried foods in any shape, size or taste, the San Diego County Fair is the place. To mention just a few, deep fried gouda from Wisconsin, deep fried Kool-Aid, fudge brownies and Girl Scout cookies and all kinds of food items as well. Take your heart medication prior though – Ramona day at the fair is Saturday, July 2nd.
RANT: Congress seems to be focusing on everything except getting the economy up and running again. Recent legislation includes banning the posting of lip-syncing to popular songs on You Tube and debating whether Weiner should resign or not for tweeting photos of his junk. Really?
RANT: Local hospitals were hit with fines recently which included on average a $25,000 fine (first offense) for allowing a patient to die due to an overdose of hospital administered drugs. That puts the life of a patient at less than the cost of a two-day stay in the hospital. Are you kidding? They need to be held more accountable.
RAVE: Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads out there. Enjoy the day, be thankful for all that you have.
