Collection jars are in 15 Ramona businesses for customers to donate, and Rotarians will be in front of Albertsons, Stater Bros. and Kmart from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the next four Saturdays seeking contributions. Donations also may be sent to Rotary Fireworks Fund, P.O. Box 276, Ramona, CA 92065.

Donation canisters are in Ransom Brothers Lumber and Supply, Ransom Brothers True Value, Daniel’s West, Java Hut, 7-Eleven, Ace Hardware, Manana’s, Country Wine & Spirits in Country Estates, Bella Mia Salon and Spa, Sizzler of Ramona, Cold Stone Creamery, 3rd Street Grill, Kountry Kitchen, La Cocina, Subway, Ramona Cafe and Nuevo Grill.

Sponsorships range from $50 to $99 for Supporters to $1,000 or more for Presenting Sponsors. Other sponsorship levels are: Co-Sponsor, $500 to $999; Co-Host, $200 to $499; and Contributor, $100. Those donating $500 and more are recognized with banners at the event, and donations of $200 and more are recognized in print and in on-site announcements.

The community fireworks and family picnic will be behind Olive Peirce Middle School from 5 to 9 p.m. on Monday, July 4. Games, food, activities and entertainment are planned and, as in previous years, the grand finale will be the fireworks backed by patriotic music from KYXY-FM radio.

Retired Ramona school district superintendent Pete Schiff, a Ramona Rotary member for eight years, is chairing this year’s festivities. As early as March he started contacting club members to establish assignments. Rotary is being assisted by other groups such as Kiwanis of Ramona, Ramona’s Community Emergency Response Team and the Intermountain Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.

Anyone wishing more information about being a fireworks sponsor or donor may contact Schiff at 760-787-0188 or Rotarian Floyd Fiduk at 760-789-8990.
