ROARS offers ham radio class

Anyone who has ever been interested in participating in amateur, or “ham,” radio is invited to sign up for a one-day class offered by the Ramona Outback Amateur Radio Society (ROARS) on Saturday, May 14.

Home study materials will be emailed to those who sign up for the class. The material can be studied alone or with friends. An online practice test site is included.

The study materials are free. The exam fee is $15.

The one day class will begin at 8:30 a.m. The class is followed by the FCC technician license exam at 4 p.m. The exam consists of 35 questions; 26 need to be answered correctly to pass.

The class and exam will take place at the Ramona Community Center at 421 Aqua Lane.
