Everybody Loves A Parade
After a seven-year hiatus (due to restrictions, permit process, high costs, etc.), the Ramona Rodeo Main Street Parade is back! Saturday, May 21, is the day and 10 a.m. is the start time. Parades have long been a staple of Americana in a small town and Ramonans should make plans to see the parade as well as the rodeo itself. The parade committee of the Ramona Outdoor Community Center should be given high praise for all the hard work and the many hoops they have had to jump through to make this a reality; it’s not easy to get state Route 67/Main Street shut down for a couple of hours in the middle of the day. “United We Stand” will be the theme, and that’s something we can all get behind. The Sentinel will be joining in, and we encourage Ramona businesses and the community at large to support the ROCC by becoming a participant or just coming out to enjoy the parade. Entry forms are available at www.ramonarodeo.com or for more information, stop by rodeo headquarters in the Ramona Business Barn at 369 Main St.
The Ramona Sentinel has won several awards from the California Newspaper Publishers Association (CNPA) Better Newspapers Contest. This is a statewide competition where newspapers from all over California compete for excellence in journalism. The awards will be presented this weekend in Los Angeles, so look for the details in next week’s Sentinel.
Website update—The Sentinel’s new website after a few delays is scheduled to debut the first part of May. The new website will use the latest in online technology and search engine optimization and will provide much more information and interaction for our readers. Also in the near future, the Sentinel will be creating a social media website catering to Ramona and the surrounding areas where the community can share their voices, opinions, photos, videos and much more.
