Splitting fairs shows lack of courage
By MATT DESKOVICK
Ramona, how dare you complain about your government, your elected officials and your economy, when you cannot even make a good decision that directly impacts your own community. Some of our most ignorant people, the fair board maybe, maybe the 4-H board, possibly the chamber, only you know who you are.
For those of you who don’t know what I am talking about, the Ramona Fair this year is going to be separated. Partially because those of you who knew this months ago said nothing, or you did not attempt to change anything but instead sat behind closed doors and complained rather than standing up, you have the lack of courage and mostly intelligence to hold those who made this decision accountable.
The livestock will be the second week, the carnival and concessions are the first week. Why, they say? Because some poor example of a human being abused a pig last year to the point that the animal had to be put to sleep. Excuse #2, two years ago a threat of some bogus gang fight had rumored to happen at our fair. Did it happen? No. Could it happen? Maybe, but then again I might die from a drunk driver when I drive down the hill tomorrow, so I guess I will not leave my house?
I guess we as a people and a community will bow down to the possibility that our sheriff department cannot handle the Ramona fair and keep our families safe in Ramona, California. This is not the America I am proud of, that’s for sure. I guess we will coward to our homes and hide and hope things magically get better.
Let’s not hire enough security to protect our livestock from an obvious huge lack of parenting that allowed a child to torture an animal.
We let the possibility of gang violence control our fair? Our community? Why don’t you say nothing, strongly disagree in silence and just let it happen. Hide wherever you must hide and let it happen until we cannot go to the fair, we cannot go to downtown Ramona. Let’s wait until it goes too far.
A rancher’s family in Arizona, I bet, wishes they stood up and put a stop to it when it started at their little country fair. You can all coward and hide and let the ignorant people make your decisions. Ask Arizona how that is working out for them.
I hear you all complain, but I hear no one standing up and saying a word.
A side note, San Diego Sheriff’s department, there are people who made this decision that think you are incapable of keeping the best kids in our community safe at our Ramona Country Fair.
