Ramona Hydroponics’ support of Barnett Elementary School’s garden and Earth Night earned the local business one of the school PTA’s honorary service awards for the 2009-10 school year.
The Barnett Elementary PTA Honorary Service Award program is part of the California PTA program that recognizes volunteers in the community.
The program supports PTA’s grants and scholarships.
Also receiving Barnett PTA honorary service awards at the school’s Open House held Thursday, May 6, were Denise Drum for what the PTA called her superior grant writing that earned Barnett $1,500 from Walmart for the school’s Emerging Leaders program; Tammy Larson, school custodian, for her support of all PTA events; and Kitty White, a Barnett teacher who is retiring, for her support of PTA and for being a board member.
This year’s Continuing Service Award went to Kristina Krohne, Barnett PTA president, for her many years of service to Barnett PTA and Olive Peirce Middle School PTSA, and for being an advocate of Teenage Suicide Prevention.
