Ramona High’s varsity tennis team lost to Westview in Valley League action and dropped a non-league match to Rancho Buena Vista. The Bulldogs are 3-4 on the season and are 1-1 in league play.
The Westview Wolverines are one of the premier teams in the CIF and are expected to win it all in Division II. Ramona fell to the Wolverines 17-1.
“Our only point came from Cameron Ruland and Tyler Davidson against their number three doubles team,” said Coach Doug Failla. “They played well as they lost their first two sets 5-7 and 4-6. Westview has a very solid team that’s players play USTA tournaments the year round.
“Ruland played very smart tennis against Rancho Buena vista winning our only two sets in singles. John Shupe and Tyler McDonald did fantastic going 4-6, 6-2 and 6-4. Our freshman team of Daniel Streeter and Chris Page are coming along well. They scored a victory on Westview’s number two team.”
Against Rancho Buena Vista Ruland turned scores 5-7, 6-1 and 6-0. Davidson went 4-6, 3-6 and 3-6. Liam Swan went 2-6 and 1-6 and Andrew Rivera went 0-6. Page and Streeter went 3-6, 6-4 and 2-6. Garrett Hatch and Chris Bowersox turned in scores of 2-6, 4-6 and 4-6.
The tennis team will be off until after spring break.
