Eight mini motorcycle racers honored at banquet
At the California Mini Motorcycle Club (CMMC) 2009 Banquet, the 82 riders who participated in the the season’s Championship Banquet Series were honored. Among them were eight racers from Ramona.
Five Ramona racers were recognized as Class Champions: Ryder Geer, Garrett Wallass, Robert Swartz, Cooper Pribyl and Brayden Lessler. Geer dominated the Supermini and the Minicycle 85cc through 16 Class, while Wallass won the in the 125cc 12-15 Class, Swartz won in the 125cc 16-25 Class and Cooper Pribyl won in the Minicycle 85cc 7-11 Class.
Lessler earned the championship in the 50cc Super Pee Wee, second place in the 50cc 7-8 Stock and third place in the Junior Cycle 65cc 0-8 Class.
Also from Ramona, Garrett Brown took home the fourth place trophy in the Junior Cycle 65cc 0-8 and the sixth place trophy in the Minicycle 85cc 7-11 class. Connor Anderson placed fifth in Minicycle 85cc 7-11.
In addition, Brown and Lessler received a special award for 100 percent attendance. Brown had 100 percent attendance for three consecutive years.
The perpetual trophy, given every year to the championship rider in the 85cc class, went to Geer. This trophy, a longstanding tradition of the California Mini Motorcycle Club, has passed through the hands of champions such as Ron Lechien, Tommy Clowers, John Hopkins and Billy Laninovich. Geer also won in the 85cc class.
All of the motocross racers who participated in the CMMC Banquet Series should be commended for their efforts, agreed their coaches, who said that it takes an incredible amount of effort, determination and heart to be able to compete in such a great sport.
