Markets have been around for millennia. They’re friendly places
where people go for quality merchandise at quality prices—maybe even do
a little haggling, but everyone generally leaves feeling good about the
day’s transactions.
And now there is one in Ramona.
The Ramona Certified Farmers’ Market opened for business in early
March in Collier Park, 626 E St., with five vendors. Now, eight months
later, there can be as many as 20 sellers offering their wares every
Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the park.

Ramona’s town band, the Ramona Town Hall Brass Band, will be among
the highlights at the Ramona Christmas Tree Lighting event on Saturday,
Dec. 5. Sponsored by the Ramona Chamber of Commerce, the annual
Christmas festivities will be held at the Ramona Outdoor Community Park
Pavilion off Aqua Lane.
The band will be performing typical carols of the season and will lend an old-fashioned touch to the tree lighting event.
The size of the band is usually between 10 and 20 musicians, but for
the Christmas season the band includes woodwind players to add that
extra timbre and color only the reeds can bring.
Bandmaster Kenneth J. Serfass extends an invitation to all adult
musicians living in Ramona who feel the need to get out those old,
dusty instruments, clean them up and join the band at Town Hall on
Monday nights for rehearsals.

As a relative of mine would say, “it doesn’t matter what we’re doing
or where we are, it’s all about the fellowship.” And he’s right.
Thanksgiving is a day to truly appreciate all that we have (and I’m not
talking about personal possessions or how much money we make or have in
the bank); it’s a time to enjoy the fellowship of family and friends.
It doesn’t matter how much or how good the food is—it’s the fellowship
that can never be experienced again.

A judge on Friday set a preliminary hearing for Jan. 4 for a Ramona
man who is accused of four counts of committing lewd acts with a

David Eric Letzring, 49, has pleaded innocent to all charges. He was
arrested by sheriff’s deputies on Nov. 5. A prosecutor said Friday he
could not say much about the case, and Letzring’s attorney could not be
reached for comment.
The charges say the molestation happened on Oct. 31. She reportedly
told a school official about the alleged molestation, and the sheriff’s

A 53-year-old Julian man was killed in a head-on collision on state Route 78 west of Old Julian Highway on Friday, Nov. 20.
Rees Boynton Skinner was eastbound in a Ford F-150 pickup truck
about 11:15 a.m. when a westbound Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck driven by
Justin Jones, 20, of Ranchita drifted onto the right shoulder of the
road, reported the California Highway Patrol. Jones over-corrected,
causing him to lose control of the truck, which crossed the solid
