Motorists can expect significant delays on northbound Interstate 5 from 9:30 p.m. tonight, July 30, until 5:30 Friday morning as crews close four of the five lanes between the San Dieguito Bridge and Manchester Avenue, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
From 9:30 p.m. until 3 a.m. only the far right-hand lane will be open. A second lane will open by 3 a.m. and all lanes will reopen by 5:30 a.m.
The closure is needed to allow crews to remove and replace concrete bridge approach slabs.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible or to take an alternate route such as Coast Highway 101 between Via de la Valle and Manchester Avenue.

Aloha! This Time Out comes to you from the Big Island of Hawaii. It is
a part of my continuous ploy to write off my vacations, a ploy that the
Internal Revenue Service has yet to accept.
I am on my sojourn with fellow retired Ramona Unified School District
teacher Mike Jordan and his beautiful wife, Linda. Having Mike and
Linda here with my wife, Margaret, is a blessing.
Mike and I like to participate in outdoor activities. Linda and
Margaret like to shop and sightsee. Hence, when Mike and I play golf,
our wives can shop and spend 10 times more than our green fees.
Josh Leiber does what every two-sport athlete should do. He plays a
team sport and an individual sport. However, he does play doubles in
his individual sport, tennis. His team sport is basketball.
During the summer, Josh concentrates most of his energy on basketball.
He plays or practices basketball five days a week during his
“vacation.” He also works out at a fitness center.
Tessa Balcom is a very busy young student/athlete during the school year.
Tessa runs cross country during the fall, plays basketball during the
winter and runs track in the spring, and she keeps a B average in her
classes.
Basketball is her favorite sport. Her mom, Sandy, and dad, Mario, were
cross country and track stars at Ramona High School and run with her on
occasion.
When asked if the runs ever evolve into competitions, Tessa replied,
“No we just run and work out.” Running is a family bonding exercise for
the Balcoms.

environmental and engineering studies needed before widening of the
state highway can begin.
The Ramona Junior Fair is charging ahead at full throttle, driven by
