County fair welcomes Musicpalooza Contest entries through March 31

If you’ve got the talent, the 2009 San Diego County Fair has the prize. The county fair, slated for June 12 to July 5 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, plans a Musicpalooza Contest and is looking for undiscovered musical talent.  The entry deadline is March 31.

The contest will determine the best band of three or more members, and the best solo singer. The winners of each division will take home $25,000. The judging committee consists of high-profile music industry professionals, so entrants will get some exposure to the right people.

Contest organizers encourage musicians who have talent and need a break to make it big to enter. Those who make it through the first rounds of judging may be performing live on the fair’s Heineken Grandstand Stage on July 3 as the opening act for Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
