Raves for Ramona

A lot of good things have been happening in Ramona lately. Here are just a few.

Ramona High School Auto Shop-A Class Act
If you haven’t seen any of the series “Drag Race High” on the Speed Channel Wednesday nights, you need to tune in. Ramona High School and El Camino High School were chosen to compete in a drag race car building competition last year that was filmed by the Speed Channel and is now being presented on TV. It didn’t take long for Mr. Grace and his group of students to demonstrate the teamwork, respect and dedication to hard work that should make every Ramonan very proud. Conversely, it didn’t take very long for El Camino High to show just the opposite. Congrats to everyone involved on Ramona’s team. You may have lost the race, but you definitely won the respect of the Speed Channel production crew as well as everyone in our community.

See-Ya Later, Mathew Hedge
What a great turnout at the Ramona planning group special meeting on February 19th as the community came together to voice their disapproval of Hedge being located here and to let the state know, when Ramonans get together, there’s no stopping them.

Rodeo to bring back Saturday parade
Organizers of this year’s rodeo have announced the return of the non-motorized parade on Saturday, May 30, which will include floats, marching bands, kids and, of course, horses; there’s nothing better than a small town parade.

Friday Night Fish Fry
If you missed last Friday night’s All You Eat Fish Fry at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, don’t despair. The Knights will be serving every Friday night during Lent from 4:30 to 7 p.m. through April 3rd. The food is great; the price is even better-check it out.

KFC gets a face lift
The Kentucky Fried Chicken location on Main has received a face lift which I thinks looks great-rumor has it though, the Design Review Board has ordered the bucket to come down-it could be a good time to start a “Save the Bucket Campaign” before it’s too late.

As always, if you see or hear things about our community that should be shared, don’t hesitate to email me at jeff@ramonasentinel.com. Have a great weekend!
